Job Description
The Courtyard by Marriott Orlando Downtown is a vibrant and contemporary hotel located in the heart of Orlando's North Quarter and Downtown business district. This urban hotel combines metropolitan energy with comfort and style, making it an ideal choice for both business and leisure travelers visiting the City Beautiful. The six-story property boasts 200 well-appointed guestrooms and 3,400 square feet of flexible meeting space, catering to a variety of events and gatherings. Guests can enjoy the on-site Bistro and Restaurant, which features American cuisine and Starbucks beverages, providing a convenient and satisfying dining experience. The hotel is strategically located just minutes away from key cultural, social, and business venues including Camping World Stadium, the Amway Center, and the Orlando Museum, offering guests easy access to important local attractions and activities.
Owned and operated by Turnberry, an independent franchisee separate from Marriott International, the Courtyard by Marriott Orlando Downtown adheres to distinct employment policies governed by Turnberry. This means that all hiring, compensation, staffing, benefits, and employment practices are controlled solely by Turnberry. The hotel takes pride in its inclusive work culture, competitive benefits package, and commitment to equal opportunity employment.
The Front Desk Supervisor role at this property is an essential non-management position focused on delivering exceptional guest service at the front desk. This role is responsible for overseeing the accuracy and integrity of guest accounts, balancing departmental income, and ensuring the smooth financial operation of the front desk activities. The Front Desk Supervisor compiles, mathematically verifies, and records all revenue generated by the hotel's operations, ensuring timely billing and collection in line with established accounting policies and procedures. This hands-on role requires vigilance in auditing and reconciling front desk agents’ work, managing open checks from food and beverage outlets, running end-of-day reports, and closing accounts efficiently.
In addition to financial accuracy, the supervisor acts as a representative of the hotel's management during graveyard shifts, handling any incidents or emergencies through timely communication with management and local authorities. This role demands a detail-oriented and enthusiastic attitude, a strong team spirit, and the flexibility to work various shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays. The position also entails physically demanding tasks such as standing for extended periods, lifting or moving luggage and packages up to 50 lbs, and operating in potentially noisy environments. Exceptional communication skills are important for effective interaction with guests, coworkers, and emergency responders.
The hotel offers an attractive comprehensive benefits package after 30 days of employment, featuring medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) matching, employee assistance programs, paid time off, life insurance, referral programs, flexible scheduling, and employee discounts. The salary range for the position is $19 to $19.50 per hour. Working at the Courtyard by Marriott Orlando Downtown provides an exciting career opportunity in a dynamic urban hotel environment supported by a reputable franchise and a strong corporate culture. Candidates interested in customer service and hospitality roles will find a rewarding career path with opportunities for professional growth and development in the hospitality industry.
