Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1 year+ of experience within a medical office or billing department preferred
- proficiency in Microsoft Office and Windows based computer environments
- ability to perform clerical duties accurately and reliably
- excellent communication skills
- knowledge of medical terminology and patient billing preferred
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- college coursework in medical sciences or secretarial studies preferred
- 1 year+ of experience within a medical office or billing department preferred
- knowledge of patient billing and medical terminology preferred
- excellent keyboard skills
- proficiency in Windows based computer environment and Microsoft Office products
- accuracy and dependability
Job Duties
- Greets and communicates with patients via phone or in person in a courteous and professional manner identifying themselves and their department
- answers telephones in a timely, courteous, and professional manner utilizing appropriate scripting
- processes calls to ensure patients are transferred to the appropriate staff member/provider in a timely manner
- schedules patient appointments based on department protocols to maximize provider productivity
- performs patient registration, insurance verification, and copay collections
- manages pre-certifications, prior authorizations, and referrals
- prepares charts and manages incoming and outgoing faxes
- provides clerical support to providers and staff
