Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year+ of experience within a medical office or billing department preferred
  • proficiency in Microsoft Office and Windows based computer environments
  • ability to perform clerical duties accurately and reliably
  • excellent communication skills
  • knowledge of medical terminology and patient billing preferred

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • college coursework in medical sciences or secretarial studies preferred
  • 1 year+ of experience within a medical office or billing department preferred
  • knowledge of patient billing and medical terminology preferred
  • excellent keyboard skills
  • proficiency in Windows based computer environment and Microsoft Office products
  • accuracy and dependability

Job Duties

  • Greets and communicates with patients via phone or in person in a courteous and professional manner identifying themselves and their department
  • answers telephones in a timely, courteous, and professional manner utilizing appropriate scripting
  • processes calls to ensure patients are transferred to the appropriate staff member/provider in a timely manner
  • schedules patient appointments based on department protocols to maximize provider productivity
  • performs patient registration, insurance verification, and copay collections
  • manages pre-certifications, prior authorizations, and referrals
  • prepares charts and manages incoming and outgoing faxes
  • provides clerical support to providers and staff
