Job Description

The Portland Clinic is a leading healthcare provider dedicated to improving the health and well-being of its community. As a trusted medical institution, it emphasizes patient-centered care, inclusivity, and collaboration among healthcare professionals to deliver exceptional medical services. Known for its commitment to quality and compassionate service, The Portland Clinic operates various specialized departments to address diverse patient needs with a focus on innovative treatments and personalized care. It creates a welcoming environment that fosters trust and support between patients and staff, ensuring all community members receive respectful and comprehensive medical attention.

The Portland Clinic is currently seeking a dedicated ASC Registration/Reception professional to join its Alberty Surgical Center department. This part-time role offers 25 hours per week with a standard Monday through Friday schedule, although specific shift hours will be determined upon hiring. This non-exempt position reports directly to the ASC Administrative Manager and comes with a $1,000 hiring bonus payable after 90 days of employment. The ASC Registration/Reception role is pivotal in managing front-office operations, greeting and registering patients, assisting family members, answering incoming calls, and supporting surgical scheduling as a backup. The position also involves chart preparation, data compilation, and maintaining a welcoming atmosphere in the surgical center's waiting area.

As a critical point of contact within the surgical center, the successful candidate will handle essential communication with patients and their families, provide clerical support, and assist with emergency procedures when required. Responsibilities include ensuring proper documentation collection, distributing mail and packages, maintaining infection control standards, and actively participating in committees such as Safety and Infection Control. Employees in this role are expected to demonstrate professionalism, punctuality, accountability, and a strong ability to work cooperatively with management, coworkers, patients, and vendors. Moreover, the role supports a culture of respect and empathy, demanding that all personnel be courteous and tactful at all times.

Ideal candidates for this position will possess a high school diploma or equivalent and current CPR certification. While prior healthcare experience, especially in a surgical setting, is preferred, the clinic values strong organizational skills, the ability to manage tasks under pressure, and an empathetic approach to patient care. Proficiency with computer systems and the ability to independently navigate administrative responsibilities are also important. In return, The Portland Clinic offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401k contributions, retirement savings options, paid time off, and various voluntary insurance plans. This role is perfect for candidates seeking a meaningful career in a compassionate, community-focused healthcare environment with opportunities for professional growth and contribution to patient-centered care.
