Job Requirements

  • Knowledge of business office procedures
  • knowledge of managed care products like HMOs and PPOs
  • knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation for typing patient information
  • skill in operating a computer and photocopy machine
  • skill in greeting patients and answering the telephone pleasantly and helpfully
  • ability to speak clearly and concisely
  • ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions
  • ability to sort and file materials correctly using alphabetical or numeric systems
  • ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and the public

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • formal training indicated by one year work experience in a medical office setting
  • knowledge of computer and business office procedures

Job Duties

  • Greet patients and callers in a congenial and professional manner
  • screen and respond to routine requests for information
  • identify caller and determine reason for telephone call
  • direct caller to appropriate person or place
  • coordinate and reschedule patient appointments
  • check patients in
  • inquire about any new patient information such as change of address, telephone, new insurance
  • scan new insurance cards
  • help patients complete necessary forms
  • input new information into computer
  • prepare cashier drawers with specified opening balance
  • receive and post payments and co-pays from patients and issue receipts
  • run reports to balance charges and payments
  • prepare deposit for the day if required
  • manage reports
  • zero EOBs from Capitation Report
  • participate in MCMP yearly project of tracking patients per Medicare standards
  • track Santes' Pay for Performance
  • provide coverage for physician receptionist area as needed
  • attend meetings and in-service as required
  • maintain records confidentially
  • comply with all work rules including safety and health
  • perform related work as required
  • perform other duties assigned by the Administrator
  • follow any other job-related instructions in the spirit of teamwork
