The Front Desk Receptionist role at Anne Arundel Dermatology is pivotal to the smooth operation of the clinical practice and directly influences patient experience. This position requires a professional, enthusiastic individual with excellent interpersonal skills who can greet patients warmly and manage their check-in and check-out processes efficiently. Responsibilities include entering new patient information into the electronic medical records system, reviewing patient charts for accuracy and completeness, confirming all necessary signatures are obtained, and handling payment collections as needed. The receptionist will also coordinate appointment scheduling, assist with insurance and billing information, maintain patient records, and address phone inquiries, all while providing attentive and empathetic customer service. This role supports a busy clinical environment, requiring strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful setting. The position is hourly, with pay ranging from $17 to $22 per hour, commensurate with experience. Job Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED
  • 1-3 years recent experience as a medical receptionist in a clinical or surgical setting preferred
  • previous experience in dermatology preferred
  • excellent customer service and communication skills
  • knowledge of HIPAA standards
  • ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • excellent organizational and time management skills
  • ability to function well in a fast-paced and at times stressful environment
  • detail-oriented
  • familiarity with multi-line phone systems
  • proficiency with standard office equipment including computers, fax machines, copiers, and scanners
  • intermediate computer skills with EMR utilization
  • fluent in English
  • ability to sort and file materials numerically or alphabetically
  • ability to travel for providing coverage to other local offices
  • capable of sitting, standing, stooping and reaching as required
  • manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard
  • vision correctable to 20/20 and normal hearing for telephone use
  • able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds

Job Duties

  • Greet each patient in a pleasant and professional manner
  • screen calls, schedules appointments and referrals
  • take accurate, concise phone messages
  • enter complete patient demographics when making appointments
  • evaluate chart data to verify all information has been received, completed and signed
  • check-in and check-out patients
  • track patients in the reception area and communicate with patients as needed
  • proactively collect patient payments
  • update product inventory weekly
  • always treat patients with dignity and empathy
  • fulfill inventory orders
  • as closer - run end of day reports and balance payment totals
  • distribute incoming reports and correspondence in patient charts
  • ensure all phone messages, faxes, and interdepartmental mail are addressed immediately
  • assist other staff as needed
  • other duties assigned as deemed necessary by management
