Job Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • previous healthcare experience
  • courses in medical terminology preferred
  • ability to operate copier, fax machine, postage machine and computer

Job Duties

  • Greet all patients entering the facility
  • assist patients as needed by using wheelchair
  • verify identity and purpose for their visit
  • ensure all patients complete necessary forms in a timely manner
  • obtain, verify, correct if needed, and scan insurance and identification cards
  • provide assistance with paperwork and instructions
  • update patient registration forms
  • administer special forms such as demographics, HIPAA compliance, and financial forms
  • ensure patient reviews and signs Patient Safety Questionnaire and other authorizations
  • review patient answers to ensure clearance for exam
  • update all departments with required patient registration/script/order information
  • enter referring physician's information if missing
  • check script and pertinent information for accuracy
  • collect and record patient payments
  • discuss monthly payment agreements and ABNs for Medicare
  • count petty cash every opening and closing shift
  • reconcile daily payments for Billing Department
  • assist with incoming phone calls and transfer appropriately
  • contact patients for no shows or rescheduled appointments
  • clean out the pending folder
  • schedule walk-in X-Ray patients
  • maintain accurate documentation of all film and CD transfers
  • instruct patient to sign out films and CDs
  • document and scan sign out forms in patient chart
  • maintain neat and orderly reception area
  • replace expired magazines
  • tidy tables and chairs
  • contact patient transportation when necessary
  • assemble paperwork packets for next day exams based on scan
  • ensure pertinent previous exams, studies, labs, films and reports are present before scheduled exam
  • inquire patient about previous studies if needed
  • notify supervisor or pull applicable studies from online site
  • check previous day's paperwork to ensure electronic version is saved before destroying original
  • prepare CT preparation kits
