The role in focus is a full-time position based at the Sanford, FL location. The position requires availability for day and weekend shifts between 8am and 8pm on weekdays and 8am to 5pm on weekends. This dynamic schedule is designed to ensure continuous patient support and operational efficiency across all service hours. As a vital member of the team, the incumbent will handle front-line patient communications, including answering phones, addressing patient inquiries and concerns promptly, and ensuring accurate information exchange.

This position includes registering patients by collecting demographic, employment, insurance, and medical condition data, verifying insurance eligibility, processing insurance releases, and managing up-front collections for co-pays and outstanding balances. Accuracy and attention to detail in preparing and filing medical records as per physician and medical staff requirements are essential. The role also involves participating in performance improvement initiatives to maintain high standards of patient service and departmental efficiency.

Candidates must demonstrate strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and show proficiency with standard office technology such as computers, copiers, fax machines, and scanners. Exceptional interpersonal abilities are essential to establish effective working relationships with patients, employees, and diverse individuals within the healthcare setting. The role demands excellent judgement and calmness in difficult situations, alongside highly developed social skills and customer service expertise.

Job Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years of customer service experience
  • Computer proficiency
  • Experience preferably in hospital or hospitality industry
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English
  • Ability to operate office equipment including computers, copiers, fax, and scanners
  • Strong social and communication skills
  • Ability to collect payments and outstanding balances
  • Ability to multitask and handle various responsibilities
  • Must remain calm and exercise good judgement under pressure

Job Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • 3+ years of customer service experience
  • Computer experience
  • Relevant experience preferably in hospital or hospitality industry
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in English through reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension
  • Proficiency in word processing and typing
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Highly developed social and communication skills
  • Ability to request and collect co-pays and outstanding balances
  • Ability to operate a computer, copier, fax, and scanner
  • Excellent judgement and ability to stay calm and level-headed in difficult situations
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and diverse backgrounds

Job Duties

  • Answer telephone and respond to patient questions and concerns to ensure prompt, accurate resolution
  • Handle various job tasks simultaneously
  • Demonstrate age-specific communication skills and assess relevant data
  • Communicate with patient or guarantor to obtain demographic, employment, insurance, and current medical condition information
  • Handle release of information requests for patients, referring offices, other medical facilities, attorneys, and insurance companies
  • Verify insurance eligibility and determine accurate up-front collection amount
  • Prepare, process, and file medical records as required by patient type for documentation by physician and medical personnel
  • Participate in departmental performance improvement initiatives
  • Perform other duties as assigned
