Job Requirements
- nys department of civil service eligible list or eligible for transfer
- or promotional candidacy requiring one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as hospital patient services clerk 1 or nursing station clerk 1
- or open competitive (non-competitive, ny helps) with two years of full-time clerical, secretarial or patient care experience in a healthcare setting
Job Qualifications

- two years of full-time patient care experience in a healthcare setting
- ability to communicate effectively
- proficiency in using patient registration systems such as epic
- organizational skills

Job Duties
- patient registration in epic
- patient check in and check out
- obtaining insurance cards
- collecting signatures on consent forms
- co-pay collection
- operating room case scheduling including coordinating provider schedules
- obtaining insurance authorizations
- completing pre-surgical paperwork and consents
- entering data into multiple scheduling systems
- obtaining authorizations for ancillary tests and procedures
- scheduling ancillary tests and procedures
- answering clinic phones
- identifying sorting and filing incoming chart documentation
- communicating effectively to transfer information
- maintaining patient confidentiality
- new patient intake per department guidelines
- mail and fax distribution
- performing other clerical duties as required
