Job Description
The City of Angleton, a vibrant community known for its commitment to quality public services and community engagement, is seeking a dedicated Front Desk Attendant for its Recreation Center. As a municipal employer, the City of Angleton prides itself on fostering a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all residents and visitors. The city values professionalism, safety, and customer service excellence, making it a sought-after workplace in the region. The hiring for this position supports the city’s mission to provide exceptional recreational opportunities and facilities that enhance the quality of life for its citizens.
The Front Desk Attendant plays a pivotal role in the day-to-day operations of the Recreation Center. This safety-sensitive position requires an individual who is attentive, responsible, and proactive. The attendant is entrusted with managing the front desk, which includes cash handling, membership sales, and providing accurate information about current and upcoming events and programs. This role demands a high level of customer service skill because the attendant is often the first point of contact for visitors to the facility.
Key responsibilities of the Front Desk Attendant involve monitoring access to the facility, greeting guests warmly, and ensuring the safety of all patrons by preventing and responding to emergencies. Supervision of vulnerable populations such as children, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities underscores the importance of this role’s safety-critical nature. The attendant must be capable of managing high-stress situations effectively and following emergency action plans promptly. Communication skills are essential, as the attendant regularly interacts with customers, staff, and supervisors.
In addition to these duties, the Front Desk Attendant organizes facility equipment and spaces for group activities, enforces facility rules and regulations, and conducts general maintenance tasks to keep the Recreation Center clean and safe. Responsibilities also include registering customers for classes and memberships, managing equipment inventory, and maintaining secure areas of the facility.
The position requires the ability to perform physical tasks such as standing for long periods, lifting up to 10 pounds, and working in an environment that may be wet or humid with occasional loud noise. Applicants must demonstrate professional conduct and reliability, with punctual attendance and a drug-free work status, as the role is subject to random drug and alcohol testing. The City of Angleton provides bi-annual training that includes First Aid and CPR certification, which is crucial for responding to emergencies effectively.
This is an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking employment in municipal recreation and customer service within a community-oriented atmosphere. The City of Angleton ensures equal employment opportunities for all qualified candidates and promotes a workplace culture that values diversity and inclusion. Embracing this role means becoming an integral part of the city’s efforts to provide safe, enjoyable recreation experiences for all residents and guests, helping the city maintain its reputation as a leader in quality public recreational services.
