The position open is for a Front Desk Attendant who will play a key role in the daily operations of the recreation center. Reporting under general supervision, the Front Desk Attendant is primarily responsible for monitoring all activities within the facility to ensure a safe and organized environment. This position includes providing accurate and helpful program information to visitors, assisting with class and event registrations, and managing membership services including fee collection. The attendant serves as a visible first point of contact for guests and members and must ensure all facility policies, such as the membership rules, are observed.
A significant part of the role involves administrative responsibilities such as admitting members and guests, verifying their membership status, and collecting necessary fees for memberships, daily usage, equipment rentals, and room bookings. The attendant also supports the maintenance of the facility’s cleanliness by following a structured hourly checklist covering areas such as locker rooms, bathrooms, and general recreation spaces to maintain hygiene and safety standards.
The Front Desk Attendant must be prepared to handle participant complaints and report any incidents or injuries promptly to supervisors, facilitating the collection of details for incident reports. Supervising community service volunteers and being available for after-hours rentals and special events are additional responsibilities that require flexibility and strong interpersonal skills.
Candidates will need effective communication abilities, both with staff and guests, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to react calmly in emergencies. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- six months customer service experience
- valid Texas Driver's License or ability to obtain within 6 months
- current CPR certification or ability to obtain within 6 months
- ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends
- ability to stand for extended periods
- ability to bend and walk while distributing supplies and equipment
- ability to operate computers and office equipment
- good communication skills
- ability to react calmly in emergencies

Job Duties
- Monitors all activities of the recreation center and provides program information
- registers people for classes and athletic events
- receives fees for memberships, daily use fees, racquetball reservations, room use, and classes
- admits members and guests in accordance with membership policy
- checks proof of membership and accepts fees
- maintains cleanliness of general recreation areas, locker rooms, and bathrooms
- assists in resolving participant complaints
- immediately reports all injuries and incidents to supervisor
- assists in collecting information for incident forms
- supervises community service volunteers
- available to work after hour rentals and special events as needed
- performs other related duties as assigned
