Job Description

InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) is a globally recognized leader in the hospitality industry, known for its wide portfolio of hotel brands that offer distinct experiences for travelers worldwide. As one of the largest hotel groups, IHG operates thousands of hotels across the globe, providing guests with exceptional service, comfort, and innovative hospitality solutions. The company is committed to delivering memorable guest experiences and fostering a positive work environment for its employees. IHG values diversity, teamwork, and personal development, making it a sought-after employer in the hotel and hospitality sector.

The Front Desk Agent role at IHG is a key position that embodies the spirit of hospitality and guest-centric service. Upon arrival, guests are welcomed by the Front Desk Agent—a professional who not only manages check-ins and check-outs but also sets the tone for the entire stay with warmth and efficiency. This role is vital in ensuring a seamless and enjoyable guest experience by handling bookings, transactions, and guest inquiries with care and professionalism. Beyond transactional duties, the Front Desk Agent is the hotel’s ambassador, offering local insights, recognizing loyal guests such as IHG Rewards Club members, and anticipating guests' needs to enhance their stay.

In this role, you'll be responsible for managing reservations and guiding guests towards options that can upgrade or improve their experience, thereby supporting hotel revenue strategies. Handling cash and credit transactions accurately will be crucial while maintaining compliance with safety protocols and security standards. Additionally, the Front Desk Agent must stay informed about daily hotel events and activities to provide guests with timely information, contributing to their overall satisfaction.

Working at the front desk demands excellent communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Technology proficiency and a good understanding of hotel management software are essential to manage bookings and guest records effectively. The role also requires a responsible attitude towards safety, appearance, and brand representation, ensuring that each guest feels welcomed and valued.

This position is well-suited for candidates with prior experience in hospitality or customer service, ideally with at least one year working in a similar front desk or guest service capacity. A high school diploma is required, and although a college or university degree is advantageous, it is not mandatory. Physical strength is occasionally needed to manage luggage or other items up to 50 pounds, with some bending and kneeling involved.

The salary range for this position is $25.00 to $28.00 per hour, reflecting the company's commitment to fair compensation based on experience, qualifications, and other relevant factors. Candidates are encouraged to apply even if every single qualification or requirement is not met, as IHG values potential and dedication.
