Job Description

FMC Health is a locally-owned healthcare management organization that provides a comprehensive range of healthcare services to residents of Amarillo, Canyon, and the broader Texas panhandle. The company is dedicated to delivering a complete continuum of care, spanning from pediatrics, urgent and primary care, to long-term, palliative, and hospice care. FMC Health’s integrated approach ensures that patients’ needs are prioritized at every stage of their healthcare journey, providing seamless transitions between different types of care. This commitment to patient-centered service has made FMC Health a trusted provider in the region, known for its focus on quality, compassion, and effective healthcare delivery.

The role of a Front Desk Agent (FDA) at FMC Health involves being the critical first point of contact for patients entering primary or urgent care clinics. This position plays an essential role in managing the efficient flow of patients and maintaining a positive, welcoming atmosphere within the clinic. Front Desk Agents are responsible for a variety of tasks that ensure smooth operational processes at the clinic, including scheduling appointments, checking patients in and out, answering telephone calls, and managing patient information through electronic medical records (EMR) systems.

Given the nature of FMC Health’s services, FDAs are expected to be highly organized and possess excellent customer service skills to handle patient inquiries effectively and with empathy. Additionally, they support the administrative side of the practice by handling billing and insurance paperwork accurately and assisting with general office tasks to keep the clinic running efficiently. Maintaining a clean, orderly waiting area is also part of their responsibilities, helping to create a comfortable environment for patients and visitors.

This position requires stamina and the physical ability to stand for extended periods, as well as the capability to multitask efficiently in a potentially fast-paced healthcare environment. Experience with electronic medical record systems, particularly Athena EMR, is considered advantageous, although not mandatory. Educational qualifications include a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent, combined with strong communication and organizational skills.

FMC Health offers competitive compensation starting from $15.00 per hour, along with a comprehensive benefits package that supports overall employee well-being. Benefits include dental insurance, health insurance, vision insurance, paid time off, and employee discounts. The position is an in-person role situated within one of FMC Health’s clinics, emphasizing the importance of face-to-face interactions with patients and healthcare staff.

For individuals committed to compassionate healthcare service and looking for a career in a supportive and community-focused healthcare environment, the Front Desk Agent role at FMC Health presents an excellent opportunity. Employees can expect a positive work-life balance and the chance to make a meaningful impact in the lives of patients while developing valuable skills in medical administration and patient relations.
