The role of Front Desk Agent is an essential position within Ascent Hospitality, designed for a candidate who is highly qualified and passionate about hospitality leadership. The Front Desk Agent acts as the face of the hotel, responsible for ensuring guests receive excellent service and a memorable stay. This position requires an individual who can handle multiple responsibilities that contribute to the smooth operational flow of the hotel, including completing all tasks outlined in the Front Desk checklist, engaging in marketing activities such as upselling to generate additional revenue, and maintaining a high standard of guest satisfaction. The Front Desk Agent must be effective in using front office systems, enforcing security protocols to protect hotel assets, and maintaining clear and professional communication with guests and staff members. This full-time role demands flexibility in work hours and a commitment to adhering to the company’s dress code and appearance standards. Job Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent
  • Six months related experience in hotels or customer service training preferred
  • Ability to work flexible shifts
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to operate office equipment
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to handle cash and perform accounting procedures
  • Must be proficient in English

Job Qualifications

  • High school education or equivalent
  • Some college preferred
  • Six months related experience in hotels or customer service training preferred
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to understand, read, write and speak English
  • Familiar with computer operation and office equipment such as copier, printer, facsimile machine, telephone
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions
  • Ability to work flexible shifts
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to work without constant supervision
  • Must be able to work in team environment

Job Duties

  • Maintain professional dress and conduct at all times
  • Greet guests immediately with a friendly, sincere welcome
  • Provide information about our hotel, available rooms, rates and amenities
  • Employ operational and selling techniques to maximize occupancy levels and achieve the highest average rate possible
  • Promptly complete registration process, input and retrieve information from computer, confirm pertinent information including number of guests, method of payment and length of stay, select guest room based upon guest needs/request, nonverbal confirmation of room number and rate
  • Inform customers about payment methods and verify that I.D. and payments method match
  • Verify credit cards for authorization using electronic acceptance methods
  • Handle cash, make change, and balance assigned cash bank
  • Accept and record vouchers, and other forms of payment
  • Maintain cash bank per policy guidelines
  • Comply with all accounting procedures
  • Maintain effective communication with all hotel departments
  • Communicate with hotel housekeeping staff to ensure all rooms are ready
  • Confirm group reservations and arrange personalized experiences for guests and event attendees
  • Adhere to safety, security and emergency procedures
  • Understand and operate front office telephone and computer systems
  • Promptly answer the telephone using positive, pleasant tone
  • Respond to guest complaints in a timely and professional manner
  • Perform other duties as requested
