The Front Desk Agent role is integral to the smooth operation of our front office. This position involves greeting and communicating cordially with guests, efficiently managing the check-in and check-out process, and handling reservations with keen attention to detail. The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive knowledge of front office systems, including both computerized and manual methods, and be adept at managing daily transactions accurately. From verifying and posting charges to handling cash, checks, and credit card payments, this role demands precision and professionalism. The Front Desk Agent will be responsible for reviewing special reservation requests, blocking rooms as needed, and understanding various hotel rates and discounts to enhance the guest experience.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in front desk or hospitality preferred
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to handle cash and financial transactions accurately
  • Knowledge of hotel reservation and cancellation procedures
  • Ability to multitask and work under pressure
  • Flexibility to work nights, weekends and holidays
  • Strong work ethic and self-motivation

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience in hotel front desk or customer service preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to operate front office computer systems or manual systems
  • Basic math skills for cash handling
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work varied schedules including nights, weekends and holidays
  • Team player with a positive attitude

Job Duties

  • Greet and communicate cordially with guests, promptly and professionally checking them in and out of the hotel
  • Assist in pre-registration and blocking of reservations when necessary
  • Promptly, accurately and efficiently know how and where to post all charges
  • Have complete working knowledge of Front Office computer or manual system, including all daily transactions and those which are not performed often
  • Accurately manage cash handling, including receiving cash, checks and credit card information from guests for payment of hotel charges and making change correctly
  • Review any reservations with special requests and work to block rooms accordingly
  • Have knowledge of hotel rates, discounts and how to handle each
  • Have working knowledge of reservations and procedures, including how to take same day reservations
  • Should be able to take reservations in approximately 2 minutes
  • Know and follow cancellation procedures and relocation procedures when necessary
