Job Requirements

  • Must be dynamic, energetic, and detail oriented
  • Self-starter with strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task effectively
  • Compliance with all Federal, State, HIPAA, and OSHA guidelines and organizational policies
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software
  • Familiarity with major EMR/EHR systems, Availity, and insurance authorization methods preferred
  • Superior customer service skills with courteous, professional, and respectful patient communication
  • Provide two professional references including preferred mode of contact
  • Minimum one year customer service experience preferred
  • Minimum one year medical terminology experience preferred
  • Minimum one year computer skills experience preferred

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience in medical or healthcare front desk roles preferred
  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel, Outlook, and Word
  • Experience with at least one major EMR/EHR system preferred
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to multi-task efficiently
  • Understanding of insurance verification, prior authorizations, and patient billing
  • Demonstrated superior customer service skills
  • Ability to comply with federal, state, HIPAA, and OSHA guidelines

Job Duties

  • Welcome and introduce patients to the practice by in-person visits, telephones, referrals, and electronic communications
  • Schedule appointments following established office protocols
  • Verify patient insurance benefits and eligibility with clear understanding of co-payments, co-insurance, and deductibles
  • Communicate benefits accurately to patients
  • Obtain and ensure appropriate referrals are received before patient visits, including consultations
  • Collect and post patient co-payments, co-insurance, deductibles, and outstanding balances at time of service
  • Maintain an orderly and efficient office routine by prioritizing work activities and evaluating effectiveness
  • Answer patient calls, letters, and other correspondence in a timely manner
