Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
  • Minimum one year experience in a medical office or related position preferred
  • Strong communication skills
  • Proficient typing or word processing skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently
  • Detail-oriented and organized
  • Ability to interact pleasantly with patients and co-workers
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions in English
  • Must be dependable and reliable
  • Knowledge of medical terminology desirable
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality
  • Must adhere to company dress code and work schedule policies

  • Sufficient knowledge of grammar, punctuation and spelling to correctly enter patient information into the computer
  • Ability to speak clearly and concisely
  • Ability to sort and file materials correctly in alphabetical or numerical systems
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
  • Ability to use correct body mechanics in order to avoid repetitive motion and other injuries related to office work
  • Knowledge of company programs, services and resources available to patients
  • Prefer one (1) year experience in a medical office position
  • Knowledge of medical terminology desirable
  • Computer and word processing experience a must

Job Duties

  • Greets patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous and helpful manner
  • Completes computer system intake at time of arrival
  • Checks-out patients, verifies and updates necessary insurance information
  • Verifies demographics with patient and obtains patient's initials
  • Answers insurance and balance related questions
  • Pulls encounter and attaches forms if needed
  • Collects from patient as needed
  • Puts up the charts on the designated provider rack for MA
  • Prints physical therapy schedules for the following day and notes for any first evals
  • Assists patients with ambulatory difficulties
  • Screens visitors and responds to routine requests for information
  • Directs patients to Triage as needed
  • Maintains inventory (copies) of forms used at check-in
  • Informs patients if there's waiting time delays
  • Answers incoming phone calls
  • Maintains work area and lobby in neat and orderly manner
  • Reconciles payments with batch deposit slip
  • Secures petty cash box in designated area
  • Follows office scheduling policies
  • Utilizes formal channels of communication to report concerns, personal requests and patient issues
  • Respects patients' right to privacy and confidentiality
  • Maintains an orderly and professional working atmosphere
  • Reports to work properly dressed according to the approved dress code
  • Adheres to guidelines concerning working hours and break periods
  • Understands and follows department's organizational policies and procedures
  • Assists center in prioritizing work activities, evaluating effectiveness and modifying activities when necessary
  • Meets deadlines for work assignments and informs work status and progress to supervisor
  • Communicates and cordially works with other staff to ensure efforts are coordinated and a high quality of service is provided
