Job Requirements
- Experience with domestic and international scrap metal logistics
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to build and lead a team
- Detail-oriented with the ability to see the big picture of the supply chain
- Comfortable communicating directly by phone
- Willingness to work beyond standard hours including holidays and weekends
- At least 3 years of relevant supply chain or logistics experience
Job Qualifications
- Self-starter with a "roll-up your sleeves" mentality and a bias for action
- Passion for disrupting an antiquated industry and driving innovation
- Deep understanding of supply chain logistics, fulfillment operations, and customer service excellence
- Knowledge of domestic and export documentation, customs procedures, and shipping regulations
- Proven track record of reducing freight costs while maintaining service levels
- Experience managing teams in a fast-paced environment
- Strong negotiation skills with carriers and service providers
- Familiarity with transportation management systems
Job Duties
- Execute sales and purchase orders within 30 days while maximizing margins
- Coordinate trucks, rail, containers, and ocean freight for domestic and export shipments
- Anticipate shipping issues and develop contingency plans
- Develop strong connections with carriers, terminals, and customers
- Maintain less than 1% pickup delays and achieve inventory turns twice monthly
- Track performance metrics and use them to improve operations and reduce costs
- Intervene directly to ensure shipment movement even during holidays or weekends
