Job Description

Sofar Sounds is a pioneering global network dedicated to transforming live music experiences by hosting unique and intimate performances in everyday spaces. Founded in London in 2009, Sofar has rapidly expanded to over 400 cities worldwide, building a vibrant community of creatives, artists, and music enthusiasts. Our mission is to connect artists and audiences in meaningful ways by embracing unconventional venues and creating magical moments through live performances. This innovative platform empowers independent event organizers who share a passion for music and community building to curate shows that resonate locally while contributing to a worldwide movement of cultural engagement.

As a Freelance Local Event Coordinator at Sofar Sounds, you will play a vital role in deepening our footprint within your local community and bringing live music to life in your city. This role is particularly suited for entrepreneurial individuals who possess a strong connection to their cultural scene and who thrive on taking initiative and ownership. As a key driver of Sofar's brand presence locally, you will be entrusted with developing strategies to grow our audience through creative promotion and community partnerships.

Your responsibilities will include curating and booking artists and venues that reflect the diversity and vibrancy of your city's music scene, while designing a compelling event calendar that attracts new fans and sustains audience engagement. Fostering community ties is essential, as you will collaborate closely with local organizations and businesses to co-promote events and build lasting relationships that amplify Sofar's presence. Managing the quality of each event, from staffing to hospitality, will ensure unforgettable experiences for attendees and performers alike.

This dynamic freelance position offers a flexible schedule primarily concentrated during evenings and weekends when events are held, making it ideal for self-motivated individuals who excel in independent work while maintaining seamless communication with our larger network. Compensation is commission-based, ranging from $100 to $5,000 per month, reflecting ticket sales, show volume, and overall performance, giving you the autonomy to scale your impact and earnings according to your dedication and success.

Joining Sofar Sounds as a Local Event Coordinator means becoming part of a global family committed to nurturing creativity and community through music. Your role will not only influence the artistic landscape but also foster meaningful connections between people and cultures, helping us continue to grow our worldwide network with authenticity and passion. If you are deeply embedded in your city’s cultural fabric, possess strong marketing and organizational skills, and seek a role with entrepreneurial freedom, Sofar Sounds invites you to apply and contribute to an inspiring mission that celebrates live performance and community spirit.
