The Bus Driver position in Fort Bend, TX, via Fort Bend County Public Transportation is a full-time role designed for an experienced and safety-conscious driver. The position offers a competitive wage of $19.50 per hour, with a planned wage increase in 2026, currently under negotiation. Benefits include paid training and comprehensive health coverage, such as medical, dental, and vision insurance, alongside a 401(k) retirement plan and paid time off or vacation. This role requires a driver dedicated to the safety and comfort of passengers, committed to following strict operational and company procedures with diligence and care.

As a Bus Driver, you will be responsible for transporting passengers safely along designated routes and schedules, ensuring a comfortable and pleasant ride. You will conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to maintain the integrity of the fleet and uphold safety. Your role also involves enforcing seat belt compliance, preparing for emergency scenarios, and adhering to DOT regulations and all company policies. Flexibility to work various shifts, including days, evenings, weekends, and overnight hours, is required to meet service demands. The position necessitates passing DOT drug screening and physical examinations to comply with federal regulations prohibiting the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis.

Job Requirements

  • Be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship
  • Successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen
  • Possess a valid CDL with passenger and air brake endorsements
  • Have minimum 3 years driving experience
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Availability to work varied shifts including nights and weekends
  • Comply with DOT drug and physical testing requirements

Job Qualifications

  • Be 21 years or older
  • Hold a valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with passenger and air brake endorsements
  • Have at least 3 years of driving experience, personal or professional
  • Possess excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Be available to work flexible shifts including days, evenings, weekends, and overnight
  • Be subject to DOT drug testing and physical if applicable

Job Duties

  • Execute flawless operations by following designated routes and schedules
  • Adhere to strict safety protocols and traffic regulations
  • Provide exceptional care and assistance to passengers during boarding, transit, and disembarking
  • Conduct comprehensive pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
  • Report any maintenance issues promptly
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety equipment readiness in the vehicle
  • Enforce company policies including seat belt use and emergency preparedness
  • Perform other duties as assigned
