We are currently hiring for the position of Food Unit Lead at the Microsoft campus located at 1045 La Avenida Avenue Street, Mountain View, CA 94043. This full-time role offers a competitive fixed pay rate of $30.37 per hour and features a schedule that may vary with shifts generally from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm. The Food Unit Lead plays a pivotal role in coordinating the activities of food-service employees to create an enjoyable dining experience for customers, staff, and visitors. This leadership position requires cooking experience and strong leadership skills, although training is available for the right candidate. The Food Unit Lead ensures that food preparation and service adhere to company standards concerning presentation, sanitation, safety, and portion control. In addition to overseeing meal service and responding promptly to customer feedback, the Food Unit Lead assists in menu planning, staff training, scheduling, and maintaining sanitation standards throughout the kitchen and dining areas.
The role also includes financial responsibilities such as handling cash deposits, petty cash, and change funds, as well as ordering food and necessary supplies from approved vendors. The Food Unit Lead must demonstrate an ownership approach by fostering efficiency and excellence among the team to deliver high-quality foodservice operations. Job Duties
- Provide quality customer service by providing one-on-one attention to detail
- Oversee and participate in the preparation and service of food and beverage items in accordance with company standards for presentation, sanitation, safety and portion control
- Help plan menus
- Ensure timely, efficient meal service
- supervise serving of meals
- Respond to customer complaints in person at the time of the complaint and via email for electronic complaints
- Train employees
- assign and coordinate work of employees to promote efficiency and excellence in food and service
- Determine work procedures, prepare work schedules and expedite work flow
- Use proper systems for completion of required daily/weekly/monthly reports such as inventory-cash reports-production records, payroll and time- keeping
- Responsible for proper cash handling as established by the Food Accounting Manual (deposits - petty cash - change funds)
- Order food and other necessary supplies from approved sources or purveyors
- Direct and participate in the overall sanitation and safety of the facility and employees in accordance with company standards and government regulations
- Develop sanitation schedule and ensure food-service employees adhere to the schedule for cleaning of kitchen and dining area and washing of kitchen utensils and equipment
- Issue written and oral instructions
- Help select and orient employees
- oversee staff training in areas of responsibility
- Perform other duties as assigned
