Job Description
Outagamie County is a dedicated and community-focused government organization located in the state of Wisconsin, known for its commitment to serve the residents with integrity, compassion, and efficiency. As a public service entity, Outagamie County operates various programs that aim to improve the quality of life of its citizens, especially vulnerable populations such as the elderly and persons with disabilities. The county's values emphasize investment in service, collaboration, progress, and compassionate support, reflecting an environment where employees work together to make a meaningful impact in the community they serve. With a strong focus on equity, diversity, and inclusion, Outagamie County actively fosters an inclusive workplace that encourages transparency, fairness, and continuous evaluation to support underrepresented communities and ensure that everyone feels a sense of belonging within its workforce and service delivery.
The position of Home Delivered Meals Transporter is an essential role within the Outagamie County Nutrition Program. This part-time position is uniquely designed to deliver nutritious meals directly to eligible homebound individuals throughout the county. These deliveries provide critical nutritional support, promote independence, and enhance the well-being of the elderly and disabled population who might otherwise face challenges accessing nutritious food. Serving four meal sites located in Seymour, Hortonville, Appleton, and Kaukauna, the Transporter ensures timely, safe, and efficient meal distribution typically during the lunch hours of approximately 11 AM to 1 PM, Monday through Friday. This role is particularly suited for individuals who value community engagement, seek rewarding interactions with homebound participants, and appreciate the opportunity to be a positive presence in the lives of others.
The Transporter is responsible for safely transporting packaged meals from designated starting points to participant residences and onwards to an endpoint, ensuring adherence to state guidelines related to food safety, including temperature monitoring. The position involves meticulous record keeping, reporting any delivery issues promptly, maintaining regular attendance, and participation in required training sessions. The role demands reliability, a respectful and empathetic demeanor towards clients, and the ability to work independently while maintaining confidentiality. Mileage is reimbursed at the IRS rate to support vehicle expenses incurred during service. Outagamie County values this role for its impact on the community, recognizing that each delivery can brighten a participant's day and contribute significantly to their health and independence.
Working with Outagamie County also provides employees with access to various benefits, especially for those working 20 or more hours per week. These include options for health and dental insurance, paid time off, and other supportive resources. The county is committed to reasonable accommodations to qualified individuals, promoting a supportive and diverse work environment in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. This position offers meaningful work that combines civic responsibility with personal fulfillment, ideal for those who want to serve their community in a hands-on, compassionate capacity.
