The role of Food Technologist – Seasoning & Flavor Development is a vital position within TFSI's Research and Development department. This full-time, onsite role, based in Exton, PA, operates Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM with occasional overtime as needed. Reporting directly to the R&D Project Manager, the Food Technologist is responsible for the creation, testing, optimization, and scaling of dry seasoning and flavor blends across diverse food applications. This role bridges culinary creativity with scientific rigor, ensuring that flavor systems meet stringent sensory, regulatory, operational, and cost standards. The Food Technologist supports the broader R&D team by performing hands-on formulation, conducting sensory evaluations, and collaborating cross-functionally with Quality, Operations, suppliers, and customers.

In this position, you will be expected to apply your expertise in food science and seasoning development to develop formulations that are not only innovative but also scalable for production while adhering to GMP, HACCP, and allergen control standards. The job involves preparing detailed ingredient statements and nutritional information using specialized software like Genesis, as well as managing project and formulation data through tools such as Salesforce and Genesis. You will play a key role in innovation sessions and product brainstorming, aiding the company in staying at the forefront of flavor development trends including organic, non-GMO, vegan, keto, and specialty formulations.

The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, innovative problem solver with three to five years of hands-on experience in product development or R&D focusing on flavor systems. You must exhibit exceptional communication skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines. A bachelor's degree in food science, culinary arts, or a related scientific discipline is preferred. Job Requirements

  • Knowledge of flavor systems, raw materials, and food processing
  • Understanding of regulatory and labeling requirements (21 CFR Part 101)
  • Experience with Organic, Non-GMO, Vegan, Keto, and specialty formulations is a plus

Job Duties

  • Develop, revise, and duplicate seasoning and flavor blends to meet sensory, functional, cost, and regulatory standards
  • Evaluate and select raw materials for product formulations
  • Conduct sensory evaluations and analytical testing to guide formulation decisions
  • Prepare and test seasonings in final product applications
  • Generate ingredient statements and nutritional information using Genesis software
  • Enter project data into Salesforce and formulation data into Genesis
  • Prepare specifications and coordinate sample shipments to customers
  • Collaborate with Quality, Operations, suppliers, and customers throughout development
  • Participate in innovation and product brainstorming sessions
  • Assist Quality with production retains and investigations as needed
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with company procedures
  • Support special projects and initiatives as assigned
