Job Requirements

  • Be at least 19 years of age
  • successful completion of drug screening and background checks
  • ability to work overtime, rotating shifts, evenings, weekends, holidays
  • must pass sex offender and criminal background checks
  • valid driver’s license if required
  • physical ability to stand, lift, pull, and squat as needed
  • adherence to food safety standards including HACCP
  • ability to understand and follow cleaning product instructions
  • flexibility to alter work schedules as needed

Job Qualifications

  • One year of food service experience or completion of vocational/technical food service program
  • ability to utilize food service equipment
  • knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
  • basic math skills including measuring and calculations
  • ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks
  • experience preparing meals for large numbers of customers
  • capability to follow detailed instructions and maintain accurate records

Job Duties

  • Store, prepare, and serve food to youth and staff in a secure facility
  • work at all assigned food service stations
  • prepare foods from preliminary to finished stage
  • follow recipes and diet orders
  • interpret and fill meals according to established menu
  • set up and break down food service lines
  • perform cleaning duties in kitchen, storage, dishroom, and food service lines
  • use cleaning products correctly
  • wash dishes, pots, pans, and utensils
  • carry trash to disposal and clean trash cans
  • assist in unloading/loading delivery trucks
  • complete documentation for Child Nutrition Programs including temperature logs and storage records
  • assist in inventory of food, supplies, small wares, and equipment
  • operate food service equipment including slicers, fryers, mixers
  • adhere to food safety guidelines including HACCP
  • verify food storage, preparation, and serving temperatures
  • perform other related duties as assigned
