Job Requirements
- Must be 18 years or older
- High school diploma or GED
- Physical ability to lift up to 58 lbs and push/pull up to 100 lbs
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods
- Exposure to various kitchen conditions including temperature changes and chemicals
- Hepatitis A vaccine or annual testing required
- Perseverance for fast-paced work demands
- Exposure to slippery floors and repeated arm and wrist movements
- Ability to work nights and weekends when necessary
- Ability to climb stairs depending on assignment
- Willingness to work during university closings
- Background and police records check required
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Skilled in use of kitchen tools and equipment
- Knowledge of safe and sanitary food handling practices
- Ability to perform basic math for inventory and portion control
- Effective communication skills in English both orally and in writing
- Basic understanding of nutrition and portion control
- Ability to follow housing and food services core values consistently
- Familiarity with time and attendance systems
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Job Duties
- Prepare food following recipes and portion control standards
- Use kitchen utensils, appliances, and industrial equipment safely and effectively
- Serve food courteously with proper portion control and menu knowledge
- Load, carry, and transport food items or containers safely and timely
- Wash, sanitize, and store kitchen utensils and equipment
- Clean tables, counters, floors, and work areas following proper sanitizing standards
- Assist with special events and catering needs across university campuses
- Assist other food services staff as needed
