Job Requirements
- High school graduate
- Minimum 3 years experience in food service and preparation
- ServSafe Food Handler certification required within 1 year

Job Qualifications
- High school graduate
- Typically requires 3 years of experience in food preparation, service techniques, cashiering, sanitation standards and diets within a large hospital or restaurant environment
- ServSafe Food Handler certification obtained or to be obtained within 1 year
- Strong knowledge of food service operations in hospital or related environments
- Excellent customer service and communication skills

Job Duties
- Acts as a resource to employees and students including training, orienting and providing day-to-day work direction
- Assigns, monitors, and reviews progress and accuracy of work
- Monitors productivity, maintains appropriate staffing levels, directs efforts and provides guidance on complex issues
- Assists with human resource responsibilities including interviewing, selection, staff development and employee morale
- Interprets department policies and advises staff on procedural changes
- Monitors department operations, adjusts schedules, records information and ensures timely work completion
- Conducts staffing checks and assigns non-routine tasks
- Provides direction to food service staff for efficient and timely service
- Maintains quality food production for patients and cafeterias
- Resolves customer complaints and workflow issues
- Acts as a resource for problem resolution and staff training in food preparation and safety
- Forecasts food requirements and maintains meal census and food usage records
- Manages purchasing and special function requests
- Inspects equipment and work areas for sanitation and maintenance
- Ensures compliance with production safety and sanitation standards
- May function as a Food Service Assistant performing meal assembly and delivery, dish room duties, cashiering and customer service
