Job Requirements

  • Ability to read, write and speak English
  • minimum 3 months food service or cashier experience
  • capability to perform calculations and use cash register
  • effective customer service skills
  • knowledge of sanitation and safety procedures
  • ability to operate café equipment safely

Job Qualifications

  • Ability to read, write and speak English well enough to follow verbal and written instructions
  • perform calculations and use an adding machine and POS system
  • accurately handle money
  • deal effectively with a wide variety of staff and customers
  • use direct reading devices where interpretation is not required
  • 3 months' food service or cashier experience to gain cashier and money-handling skills
  • expertise with customer service, portion control, short order food preparation, sanitation, and safe operation of café equipment

Job Duties

  • Operate and maintain the coffee café of the hospital's dining hall during scheduled hours
  • determine and communicate order cost
  • operate the electronic cash register
  • check and count money to assure accuracy of register and receipts
  • prepare coffee beverages and related orders according to specific instructions
  • perform a variety of food service assignments including preparation and set-up of the café food and service area
  • maintain cleanliness of area and equipment
