The position available is for a Food Service and Housekeeping staff member in Brynmor's Washington, D.C. location, working on-site and reporting directly to the Executive Director. This role ensures that all meals and snacks served comply with health, safety, allergy restrictions, and regulatory standards mandated by health departments and child care licensing authorities. Beyond food service, the position demands maintaining the kitchen and other facility spaces to exemplary standards of cleanliness throughout the day. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented and committed to high-quality early care and education. They will act as proactive partners within the Brynmor team, fostering an exceptional experience for children and families alike. This role requires an individual enthusiastic about contributing to both the operations and growth of the organization. Additionally, the candidate must uphold Brynmor’s policies and practices related to health, safety, development, and learning standards, ensuring children and families receive the highest quality care.
Key responsibilities include working alongside the Team Lead to manage food service operations such as coordinating with food vendors, preparing breakfast, lunch, and snacks, and ensuring proper food storage and handling in line with health codes and allergy restrictions. Further duties involve ensuring classrooms receive food and related items safely, maintaining clean and sanitized utensils according to Virginia Department of Health standards, and overseeing the cleanliness and upkeep of the entire facility, including waste management, bathroom sanitation, and general spill cleanup. Emphasis is placed on role modeling integrity, honesty, and a strong service orientation toward the diverse children, families, and co-workers Brynmor serves. This role also entails innovation and expertise in addressing challenges and opportunities, as well as fostering collaboration within a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment. Candidates will be expected to drive results with a sense of urgency and a focus on continuous improvement.
Brynmor offers competitive compensation for this role, with an hourly wage ranging from $17.95 to $19.00. Job Qualifications

- work with the Team Lead to implement all food service operations including supporting the relationship with the food service vendors, partnering with the Team Lead to deliver child-friendly, nutritious menus, ensuring food is stored according to all health and safety regulations, preparing daily breakfast, lunch and snacks, distributing food to every classroom in accordance will all center health, safety and allergy restriction practices, ensuring all food service items are collected from classrooms, cleaned and stored in accordance with health, safety and allergy restriction practices, working in conjunction with the Team Lead to ensure all food service supplies and consumables are well stocked and within their expiration date, ensuring all silverware and dishes are cleaned and sanitized in accordance with Virginia Dept of Health Standards
