Job Description

As part of this dynamic organization, the Food Service Worker role focuses on supporting the hospital's mission by ensuring safe, efficient, and timely food assembly, distribution, and service to patients, visitors, and staff. This position offers regular daytime hours from Monday to Thursday, 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM, and Friday from 6:30 AM to 2:00 PM, with an hourly pay range between $18.10 and $24.36. The job is onsite at 1153 Centre Street and classified as a regular employment type with a structured work shift.

The Food Service Worker performs key functions critical to patient satisfaction and operational efficiency within the hospital food service department. Responsibilities include assembling and distributing patient trays, setting up and stocking food stations for meal service, and maintaining cleanliness of work areas, equipment, and overall food service environment. The role demands adherence to HACCP standards to guarantee food safety and requires a positive, friendly attitude alongside prompt communication with supervisors regarding any concerns or shortages.

The position includes participation in department meetings and ongoing training to maintain a high standard of service quality. Employees are expected to support departmental goals aimed at improving operations and customer satisfaction. The role may involve operating equipment such as dishwashing machines and trash compactors, mopping floors, and engaging in sanitation projects. Additionally, Food Service Workers may assist in training new and fellow employees, contributing positively to team development.

Physical demands of the job include frequent standing, walking, balancing, as well as occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and reaching. The role requires handling items, fine finger manipulation, and constant use of senses such as feeling, talking, seeing both near and far, and hearing to perform tasks safely and effectively.

Job Duties

  • Attends department meetings and training classes as assigned

  • regularly works on sanitation projects assigned by manager
  • assists with training new and fellow employees
