The position of Food Service Worker (Retail Services) at University Hospital plays a critical role in supporting the facility’s mission by ensuring efficient food service to staff, students, and visitors in various retail dining areas. The role involves assisting in station set-up, serving meals in a professional and efficient manner, and maintaining a clean and organized serving and dining environment. The Food Service Worker actively contributes to creating a friendly, welcoming, and safe atmosphere for all customers, emphasizing a patient-centered approach to service. They must communicate clearly to ensure understanding, respond promptly and effectively to complaints and concerns, and organize work processes to meet customer needs, including those of internal customers and co-workers.
In this role, the Food Service Worker is expected to consistently meet or exceed customer expectations by maintaining professional composure and working collaboratively with the team to ensure high service standards. Responsibilities include setting up designated food stations, preparing customer orders, conducting various cleaning and sanitation tasks, and participating in catering events and other retail venues as needed. The role requires compliance with federal, state, and local health codes as well as The Joint Commission standards.
