The role available is a part-time Food Service Worker position based in Jacksonville, Florida. This role involves the preparation and serving of a limited variety of fast food items at locations such as snack bars. The position requires the operation of equipment including grills, microwave ovens, and deep fryers, along with the preparation of simple salads and sandwiches. A key responsibility includes the proper brewing of coffee in large urns following established procedures. The Food Service Worker will also be responsible for cleaning vegetables, packaging meats, setting up food service counters, stocking beverage dispensers, and maintaining cleanliness throughout the service area. Customer interaction is a vital part of the role, where workers are expected to take orders, serve food in accordance with portion controls, and provide friendly customer service, including suggesting substitutes and informing customers about daily specials.

In addition to food preparation and customer service, the role requires adherence to Navy Exchange Customer Service standards, including maintaining a neat appearance, wearing the appropriate uniform and name tag, and delivering service with tact, courtesy, and promptness. The position may also involve opening and closing the food service location and operating a cash register. Physical demands include frequent lifting of objects up to 30 pounds and occasional lifting up to 45 pounds while standing or walking for extended periods. Job Requirements

  • One year of experience performing various food preparation and serving tasks
  • Substitution of one year of high school education for three months of experience
  • High school diploma or GED may substitute for up to 12 months of experience
  • Ability to frequently lift or move objects up to 30 pounds and occasionally up to 45 pounds
  • Ability to stand and walk constantly during work
  • Must adhere to uniform and appearance standards
  • Availability for part-time schedule of 20 to 34.5 hours per week

Job Qualifications
