The Food Service Worker is responsible for preparing meals and special diets according to approved menus and recipe cards developed by a registered dietitian. This includes assisting or leading residents in various kitchen duties such as cleaning, cooking, baking, and handling food supplies. The role also involves conducting routine inspections of equipment and workspaces to ensure compliance with health, sanitation, and safety laws. Employees maintain inventory control, assist with ordering supplies, and keep accurate records and reports of meal counts, food stores, temperature logs, and resident disciplinary reports.
This position requires flexibility and a willingness to work any hours or shifts as needed. Job Duties
- Participate in or lead resident workers in the preparation of meals and special diets in accordance with standard menus and recipe cards approved by a registered dietitian
- Assist or lead residents in cleaning the kitchen and equipment, cooking and baking volume meals, and receiving and storing supplies
- Assist in or direct the serving of meals in accordance with feeding schedule and in compliance with standards including portion control, temperature, and proper serving procedures
- Conduct inspections of equipment and work area including kitchen, storeroom, pantry, service and dining areas for compliance with policies, procedures, rules, standards, and applicable health, sanitation, and safety laws
- Assist in maintaining inventory and in ordering and receiving food and food preparation supplies
- Maintain routine records and prepare reports such as food stores, meal counts, work schedules, production records, temperature logs, and resident disciplinary reports
- Properly process all reports and documents in a timely manner
