With a long-standing history of empowering people with disabilities, Eggleston Services has established itself as a pillar of support and inclusion within the community. The organization operates various programs that focus on skill development, job placement, and personal growth to ensure its participants become confident and independent members of society. As a part of the AbilityOne Commission, an independent federal agency that promotes employment opportunities for people who are blind or severely disabled, Eggleston Services contributes meaningfully to a nationwide effort aimed at improving lives through work and community integration.

Currently, Eggleston Services is seeking a part-time Food Service Worker for the NMCP (Naval Medical Center Portsmouth) program. This role offers a rewarding and challenging opportunity for individuals who are passionate about supporting a greater cause through meaningful work. The Food Service Worker position primarily includes janitorial tasks and dishwashing duties while assisting with food preparation under careful supervision. The schedule for this role involves working some weekends and holidays, ensuring the smooth operation of the food service area throughout the week. This position aligns perfectly with Eggleston Services' mission of creating employment avenues tailored to the needs and abilities of persons with qualifying disabilities.

The Food Service Worker will be an integral member of the team responsible for maintaining cleanliness and safety within the kitchen and dining areas. Attention to detail and adherence to food safety protocols are essential to ensure a hygienic and pleasant environment for all patrons and staff. Furthermore, the Food Service Worker will assist with assembling food for serving lines, contributing to the timely and efficient delivery of meals.

This role demands physical stamina, including the ability to stand for extended periods, frequently lift or move items up to 50 pounds, and perform various movements such as bending, reaching, and squatting. Work will primarily be conducted in a commercial kitchen setting with exposure to its typical hazards and loud noise levels. Potential candidates must be free of communicable tuberculosis and able to comply with all safety regulations. The role offers a collaborative work environment where employees are encouraged to work together as a team, promote safe practices, and support overall program efficiency.

Applicants will undergo a criminal background investigation and pre-employment drug screening, reflecting the organization's commitment to safety and integrity. It is also mandatory for successful candidates to obtain a food handler card and have a qualifying disability to align with the AbilityOne Commission guidelines. Eggleston Services is deeply committed to equal opportunity employment, welcoming candidates regardless of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or veteran status.
