Job Description
TNG, also known as The Nutrition Group, is a respected food service management company with a rich history dating back to 1975. With operations spanning across seven states, TNG has established itself as a leader in the food service industry, committed to delivering delicious and healthy meals to its clients year-round. The company prides itself on the belief that every individual on their team plays a vital role in the success of their mission. Through fostering long-term relationships with clients, customers, and team members, TNG continues to grow and maintain its reputation for excellence in the management industry.
The position available at TNG is a daylight hours role, Monday through Friday, with no evenings or weekends required, and holidays off. Employees also benefit from paid time off (PTO) and a 401(k) plan. This specific role is based in a local school kitchen or cafeteria, which offers a unique opportunity to serve nutritious meals to students within an educational setting. Those who join TNG in this capacity will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the food service program, contributing to the health and well-being of young learners.
The role primarily involves cooking and food preparation, ensuring that meals are prepared according to rigorous nutritional and safety standards. The candidate will be responsible for portioning and serving food efficiently while maintaining strict sanitation guidelines in accordance with USDA and state regulations. Understanding and complying with the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HAACP) program and health department regulations are key aspects of this role to guarantee food safety and quality. Additionally, the position involves assisting in monitoring costs and managing inventory controls to maintain operational efficiency and reduce waste.
This job is ideal for individuals who possess a positive and consistent work ethic and are willing to learn and grow within the role. Food service experience is preferred, although not mandatory, and computer literacy is also advantageous given the need to manage certain aspects of inventory and cost controls digitally. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential for collaborating with team members and interacting with clients or customers in a courteous and professional manner.
The physical demands of the position include standing for extended periods, as well as occasional sitting, pushing, pulling, walking, and lifting up to or exceeding 40 pounds. This makes the role well-suited for candidates comfortable with active physical work throughout their shifts.
TNG reaffirms its commitment to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace where all qualified individuals have equal opportunities for employment. The company’s hiring practices are inclusive, without regard to race, color, religion, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability, age, or veteran status. This commitment to equal opportunity underscores TNG’s dedication to fostering a supportive and respectful work environment.
Overall, the opportunity to work with TNG in this school kitchen/cafeteria role provides a stable and fulfilling work environment with competitive benefits, a supportive team culture, and a chance to contribute positively to community health and nutrition.
