The Food Service Worker II position at Kerrville State Hospital, one of HHSC's nine psychiatric hospitals, focuses on the preparation, portioning, distribution, and serving of food to patients and staff in accordance with therapeutic and regular dietary requirements. Located in Kerrville, TX, this full-time, nonexempt position offers a competitive monthly salary range of $2,639.75 to $3,404.91. Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Twelve months of food service experience
  • Ability to obtain food safety certification within first six months of employment
  • Pass fingerprint criminal background check
  • Pass pre-employment drug screen
  • Pass registry checks including CANRS, Nurse Aid, Medication Aide and Employee Misconduct
  • Compliance with immunization policies
  • Valid Texas driver license or obtain within 90 days if driving is required
  • Able to work a rotating schedule and overtime
  • Be eligible to work in the United States

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Attend work regularly and work assigned shifts including rotating schedules, extended shifts, or overtime as needed
  • Assist in the preparation and portioning of food for special diets following food service procedures
  • Prepare scheduled snacks and supplements and maintain supply
  • Distribute food safely and sanitarily according to food service policies
  • Serve food by following food service procedures
  • Follow proper food handling in accordance with state, federal and HACCP guidelines
  • Receive deliveries and prepare necessary paperwork accurately and timely
  • Clean and sanitize kitchen, stock room, food prep areas, dishes, utensils, pots and pans
  • Train or assist in training new food service staff
  • Participate in disaster response or COOP activation as required
