Job Description

The Food Service Worker I role is an essential position within Campus Dining Services. The role encompasses a mix of food preparation, service, and sanitation tasks designed to maintain the operational excellence of dining services on campus. Responsibilities include preparing food by following instructions and proper food handling procedures, setting up service and preparation areas, and assisting student employees with their tasks by providing training and direction. The Food Service Worker I will also maintain cleanliness and safety in food preparation and service areas, including dishwashing stations, to uphold hygiene standards that ensure customer safety and satisfaction. The role demands physical capability to handle kitchen utensils and supplies, including lifting items up to 40 pounds, and requires a willingness to provide high-quality customer service. Hours for this position are varied and scheduled by the manager based on operational needs. The position is classified under the University Title 'Food Service Worker I', with an anticipated salary range between $15.00 and $16.32 per hour. While the position is not eligible for University benefits, employees may elect to participate in the Tax Deferred Annuity Plan (403b). Certification such as ServSafe is preferred or must be acquired within six months of employment, ensuring adherence to food safety standards. Job Requirements

Job Qualifications

  • Some knowledge of and experience in basic food preparation, service, and sanitation methods

Job Duties

  • Prepare food according to instructions
  • follow proper food handling techniques
  • assist in completing Serving Line Worksheets
  • maintain clean, sanitary, safe, and secure working areas
  • set up service and preparation areas as assigned
  • provide high-quality customer service
  • help train and assist student employees in food preparation and service
  • clean and replenish service and preparation areas, dining room, and dishwashing stations during and after service
  • set up, disassemble, and maintain dish machines and pot-and-pan washing stations
  • help train and assist student employees in dishwashing and pot-and-pan washing operations
  • perform other duties as assigned
