Job Description

This position is located within the Lakeland Joint School District at 7748 West Main Street, Rathdrum, Idaho, and offers both full-time and on-call scheduling options to accommodate various availability. The full-time schedule runs Monday through Friday from 5:00 am to 12:30 pm, with additional details available during the interview process. Alternatively, on-call workers will assist with the summer food service program and continue through the school year as needed.
The Food Service Worker role at Chartwells K12 focuses on preparing, presenting, and serving food in a school cafeteria setting. The position demands a commitment to food safety, hygiene standards, and excellent customer service to enhance students' dining experiences. Candidates with prior experience in culinary math fundamentals, recipe scaling, and food preparation or production are preferred. The role offers a competitive fixed pay rate of $15.00 per hour, along with an internal employee referral bonus program to encourage team growth.
In this role, workers will handle essential food preparation tasks such as washing, peeling, cutting, and seeding fruits and vegetables. They will accurately weigh and measure ingredients, transport food items safely between stations, and maintain proper storage procedures, including wrapping, dating, and rotating food stock according to health standards. Beyond food handling, the role also encompasses cleaning work areas and equipment, distributing supplies, and using approved recipes and production standards to ensure consistent quality.
Interaction with students and staff is an integral part of the position; Food Service Workers are expected to serve customers politely and efficiently while addressing any customer concerns and communicating important information to supervisors. Employees must comply with company service standards as well as inventory and cash control protocols. Maintaining sanitation and safety requirements is also a priority to ensure a safe and healthy environment for both workers and students. This position may also include additional duties as assigned by management.
