The Food Service Worker role is an integral part of the culinary team, focusing on the preparation, presentation, and service of food in a courteous and efficient manner within the retirement community setting. This position involves performing food prep work such as washing, peeling, cutting, and seeding fruits and vegetables, weighing and measuring ingredients with precision, and following safety standards while handling food items. The role also requires knowledge of proper storage techniques, including wrapping, dating, and rotation procedures to ensure food quality and adherence to safety guidelines. Additionally, the Food Service Worker is responsible for maintaining clean workstations and equipment, distributing supplies, and utilizing approved recipes and production standards to guarantee proper portion control and serving temperatures. Interacting positively with customers, resolving concerns, and communicating effectively with supervisors are critical elements of the job to ensure exceptional service quality. Job Requirements
- Prior food service experience preferred
- Ability to perform food preparation tasks such as washing, peeling, cutting and measuring
- Ability to stand for extended periods and carry food trays or equipment
- Flexibility to work full-time or part-time schedules including weekends and holidays
- Ability to comply with sanitation and safety standards
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Must be able to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation

Job Duties
- Performs prep work such as washing, peeling, cutting and seeding fruits and vegetables
- Weighs and measures designated ingredients
- Carries pans, kettles and trays of food to and from work stations, stove and refrigerator in accordance with safety standards
- Stores food in designated areas following wrapping, dating, food safety and rotation procedures
- Cleans work areas, equipment and utensils
- Distributes supplies, utensils and portable equipment
- Utilizes approved food recipes and production standards to ensure proper quality, serving temperatures and standard portion control
- Serves customers in a friendly, efficient manner following outlined steps of service
- Resolves customer concerns and relays relevant information to supervisor
- Ensures compliance with company service standards and inventory and cash control procedures
- Assures compliance with all sanitation and safety requirements
- Performs other duties as assigned
