The Food Service Worker role at Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital is a full-time position on the 2nd shift, specifically from Monday to Friday, 11:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., with responsibilities that may include rotating weekends and every other holiday. This role is essential in ensuring that the hospital's food service meets high standards of quality, safety, and customer satisfaction. As a Food Service Worker, individuals are tasked with preparing food, presenting it attractively, and serving it to customers in a respectful and efficient manner. Moreover, the position requires adherence to federal, state, and local food safety regulations, including proper food storage, sanitation, and hygiene standards. The worker also participates actively in maintaining cleanliness in the preparation and dining areas, ensuring compliance with Mary Free Bed's policies and health guidelines.

The food service team member will engage in a variety of kitchen duties such as washing, peeling, cutting, and seeding fruits and vegetables, weighing and measuring ingredients, and carrying food items safely within the kitchen and serving areas. The role also includes distributing supplies and equipment, following approved recipes and portion controls, and addressing customer concerns with professionalism. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team are key components of this job. Additionally, the Food Service Worker is encouraged to contribute to quality improvement by identifying potential issues, suggesting solutions, and promoting patient and family satisfaction through exceptional service. Job Duties

  • Prep work including washing, peeling, cutting, and seeding vegetables and fruits along with weighing and measuring designated ingredients
  • carry pans, kettles, and trays of food to and from workstations, stove, and refrigerator while maintaining all safety standards
  • properly store foods in designated areas following wrapping, dating, and food safety and rotation procedures
  • clean work areas, equipment and utensils
  • distribute supplies, utensils, and portable equipment
  • utilize approved food recipes and production standards to ensure proper quality, serving temperatures and standard portion control
  • serve customers in an efficient and friendly manner following outlined steps of service
