The Food Service Worker position for the evening shift at Masonicare at Bishop Wicke plays a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation standards of the kitchen. This is a part-time role, specifically for the evening shift, requiring 9 hours per week every weekend. The successful candidate will work under the direction of chefs and the Chef Supervisor, ensuring all dishes, kitchen equipment, floors, and other sanitation tasks are completed diligently and up to standard. The position does not involve supervisory responsibilities but requires effective communication and cooperation with residents, families, and staff.
This role is essential in supporting the kitchen’s smooth operation by adhering to proper sanitation procedures and handling cleaning duties effectively. Key responsibilities include setting up the dishmachine for meal service, washing dishes, sorting silverware, and cleaning glasses. The Food Service Worker also maintains the cleanliness of pots, pans, and other kitchen equipment using appropriate chemicals and procedures. Additional duties include organizing storerooms and coolers, managing waste disposal including garbage and recycling, and assisting in special cleaning projects as directed by management.
Working in this role requires a commitment to following dress code standards, wearing clean uniforms provided by the department, and using hairnets when required to uphold hygiene standards. Attendance at all scheduled in-service training sessions is mandatory to ensure ongoing compliance with health and safety regulations. The position demands physical endurance since it involves continuous standing, frequent walking, climbing, bending, crouching, pushing, pulling, and carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds or more occasionally.

Job Requirements

- Ability to lift 1 to 50 lbs frequently and over 50 lbs occasionally
- Willingness to follow department dress code including wearing uniforms and hairnets
- Attend all scheduled in-service training sessions

Job Duties
- Assist in the general sanitation of the kitchen which encompasses all aspects of proper sanitation procedures
- Set up dishmachine for meal service and wash dishes sort silverware and clean glasses
- Maintain proper cleanliness of all pots and pans using proper chemicals and procedures clean all kitchen equipment as requested by supervisor organize and clean storerooms and coolers
- Remove all garbage from kitchen and put in dumpster as well as recycle products
- Assist manager and cooks in any special cleaning project as directed
- Follow dress code for department wearing provided uniforms that are clean and neat wear hairnets as required
- Receive all deliveries and properly rotate stack and organize storeroom and coolers
- Attend all scheduled in-services
