This particular opportunity is within the Facilities, Environmental Services, and Culinary department, and is a per diem Food Service Worker role in Tucson, Arizona. This position is ideal for individuals who have a background in food service and enjoy delivering premier customer service while working collaboratively in a team-focused environment. As a Food Service Worker, you will support various aspects of food preparation and service including tray line support, food prep, and unboxing foods and supplies. The role requires physical activity such as lifting and carrying boxes, restocking shelves, as well as maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen and dining areas including dishwashing duties.
This per diem position offers the flexibility of shifts primarily from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, inclusive of weekends. Candidates with open availability who are willing to work full-time hours or five days per week are preferred. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous food service experience preferred
- Ability to work day shifts including weekends
- Physical ability to lift and carry boxes and stand for extended periods
- Open availability and willingness to work full-time hours or 5 days per week
- Successful completion of post-offer occupational health physical assessment
- Passing drug screen and background check including employment, criminal, and education verification
Job Qualifications
- Ability to learn and follow established policies and procedures
- Ability to read and understand written and verbal instructions
- Effective communication skills
- Commitment to providing excellent customer service
- Ability to learn food handling regulations and pass required certification tests
- Ability to operate POS (cash register) when applicable
- Food handlers' card required within 30 days of hire for Banner Staffing Services team members
- For certain locations, possession of Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card may be required
Job Duties
- Set up work station and prepare assigned foods and nourishments following procedures, portion control, and food quality standards
- Clean and sanitize dishes, flatware, trays, cups, glasses, cooking utensils, equipment, and kitchen areas
- Dispose of all waste materials and monitor dish machine temperature
- Maintain par levels of foods and supplies, order and restock items, rotate food stocks, and check expiration dates
- Check and record food and equipment temperatures and report discrepancies
- Deliver meals, nourishments, late trays, and tube feedings to units and return excess nourishments as requested
- May assist in catering or special event service
- May handle transactions at cash register or cafe
- Interact with food service personnel, hospital staff, patients, and families
- Follow cleaning chemical guidelines and maintain sanitation standards
- Work quickly and correctly while providing good customer service
