Job Description
The Army and Air Force Exchange Service, commonly known as "the Exchange," operates as a premier retailer on US Army and Air Force installations worldwide. This multibillion-dollar enterprise is ranked among the top retailers and supports military personnel, their families, and authorized patrons at numerous locations including bases in Germany, Italy, England, Turkey, South Korea, and Japan. Additionally, the Exchange maintains stores in operational areas such as Iraq and Afghanistan, ensuring that Soldiers and Airmen have access to the high-quality goods and services they deserve, no matter where they are stationed. The Exchange runs diverse retail outlets including department stores, convenience stores, restaurants, movie theaters, and an online shopping platform dedicated to serving the military community.
Working as a Food Service Worker at Burger King within the Exchange, you will serve in a dynamic and fast-paced environment where your personality and customer service skills will shine. At Burger King, you will take pride in preparing flavorful, flame-broiled burgers and other menu items that delight our customers. This role is more than just food preparation — it is about creating memorable experiences through genuine customer engagement and welcoming service. You will greet patrons with eye contact and an authentic smile, engage with them by listening attentively to their needs, and provide suitable product recommendations. Accuracy and efficiency when completing transactions help maintain smooth operations and a positive shopping experience.
The position offers a flexible schedule accommodating varying needs alongside a comprehensive benefits package. Included benefits are medical, dental, life, and disability insurance; paid time off; shift differentials and holiday pay; access to a traditional pension and 401(k) plans for qualifying associates; and employee access to base facilities and the Mass Transit program. By working with the Exchange, you take on a role that values your development and growth, supported by a team dedicated to investing in your success. The work environment promotes teamwork, initiative, and personal growth, making it an exceptional place for individuals passionate about hospitality and serving those who serve their country.
In this role, you should be comfortable lifting up to 30 pounds regularly and occasionally up to 45 pounds, adapt quickly to the technology used in daily operations, and think on your feet to provide timely, accurate responses to customers. Taking initiative and sharing knowledge about the Burger King brand enhances the team’s ability to deliver superior service. Cross-training in multiple areas of the store is encouraged to ensure operational flexibility and personal skill enhancement. Fast food experience is preferred but not required, as comprehensive training is provided.
The Food Service Worker position requires working specific shift hours from 1100 to 1700 Monday through Sunday and obtaining a valid food handler’s card. Completion of at least two years of high school is preferred, though relevant job experience can be substituted. Attention to detail, excellent communication skills, basic computer skills, and a welcoming, helpful attitude toward customers and colleagues are essential qualities to thrive in this role.
This position offers a salary range from $18.04 to $21.05 per hour and provides a unique opportunity to contribute to a respected retail organization within the Department of Defense environment. Joining the Exchange means becoming part of a committed team focused on delivering exceptional experiences and supporting the military community with dedication and professionalism.
