Job Description

The Little Rock Air Force Base is a prominent military installation located in Arkansas, serving as a vital hub for the United States Air Force and Space Force operations. It is home to a variety of establishments that provide essential services to military personnel, their families, and civilian employees. One such establishment is the Rickenbackers Cafe and Bar, which operates under the umbrella of Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) activities. The Rickenbackers Cafe and Bar offers a welcoming environment where members of the military community can enjoy quality food and beverages in a relaxed and friendly setting. This facility plays a significant role in enhancing the quality of life for those who serve and support the military mission at Little Rock AFB.

This employment opportunity is part of a Nonappropriated Fund (NAF) position, indicating that it is funded through revenue generated by the facility rather than federal government appropriations. The role is designed to support the day-to-day operations of the cafe and bar, contributing to the overall morale and welfare of the base community. The position offers a flexible schedule with guaranteed minimum hours of zero but with potential scheduling up to a maximum of 40 hours per week, suitable for those seeking part-time or full-time work within a structured military community setting.

As a cafe and bar team member at Rickenbackers, the successful candidate will be entrusted with preparing a variety of hot and cold beverages including cappuccinos, brewed coffees, lattes, espressos, hot chocolate, iced coffees, fruit drinks, and smoothies among others. Additionally, the role includes serving other refreshments such as sodas, juices, cookies, muffins, and pastries, ensuring that customers receive high-quality products made according to standardized recipes. This careful attention to detail helps maintain the reputation of the establishment for excellent service and product quality.

Beyond beverage preparation, the team member will also handle cash transactions, operate the cash register, and manage customer payments with accuracy and courtesy. They will maintain cleanliness and order by setting up and cleaning tables, replenishing condiments, and performing general cleaning duties to keep the environment inviting and hygienic. Inventory support tasks, including identifying items that need reordering, are also part of the responsibilities, contributing to smooth operational flow.

Physically, the position demands the ability to lift and carry objects weighing over 25 pounds frequently, alongside continuous standing, walking, stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, and bending. Some tasks may require the use of ladders, step stools, or powered cleaning equipment, underscoring the need for physical readiness and safety awareness.

This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working in a fast-paced environment where customer service and teamwork are paramount. Candidates must be 18 years or older and must meet U.S. citizenship or residency requirements. Completion of a background check, pre-employment physical, and obtaining a Food Handler's Certificate are mandatory prerequisites.
