Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) is an essential organization dedicated to supporting and enhancing the quality of life for Marines, their families, and the broader Marine Corps community. MCCS operates as a comprehensive program that brings together military personnel, civilian employees, contractors, and volunteers, all working in unison to provide exceptional services and ensure the smooth and effective functioning of the organization. MCCS offers a variety of programs and services designed to meet the diverse needs of the Marine Corps community, including recreational activities, retail operations, child and youth programs, family services, and food service operations. As part of this multifaceted organization, the MCCS Food Service Worker plays a vital role in delivering high-quality food services at Marine Corps Bases.
This specific position is located at MCBH Camp Smith within the Aloha Kitchen and is designated as a Food Service Worker NA-02. The role involves a wide range of responsibilities centered around preparing and serving food in a cafeteria or family-style setting. The Food Service Worker is responsible for setting up food service counters, steam tables, dining tables, and side service stands with hot and cold food items including meats, vegetables, salads, desserts, bread, butter, and beverages. Additionally, the position requires making coffee in large urns and specialty coffee drinks using barista equipment, preparing fruit and vegetable salads, making hot and cold sandwiches, and packing box lunches.
The Food Service Worker also plays a key role in maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in the dining areas, including cleaning tables, sweeping floors, and ensuring dishwasher maintenance. This position may also involve light physical tasks such as unloading food deliveries, moving heavy garbage cans, and stocking merchandise refrigerators and freezers.
Candidates selected for this position are expected to deliver World Class Customer Service with a strong focus on courtesy, communication, and problem-solving skills. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in food service or related field preferred
- Ability to lift and carry objects up to 45 lbs independently
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Must be registered with Selective Service if male born after Dec 31, 1959
- Eligible to work in the United States
- Must pass National Agency Check and Inquiries (NACI) background check
- Must comply with drug-free workplace policies
- Must be able to provide proof of qualifications and prior military service if applicable
- Must be willing to work in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment
Job Qualifications
- Ability to perform tasks with multiple steps and use judgment in sequential tasks
- Skill in serving uniform individual portions
- Knowledge of simple arithmetic and ability to read instructions
- Working knowledge of common sanitation procedures to prevent contamination
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Capacity for light to moderate physical effort including lifting objects up to 45 lbs
- Ability to work in warm, noisy environments with exposure to minor injuries

Job Duties
- Set up food service counters, steam tables, dining room tables, and side service stands with hot and cold food
- Serve food cafeteria-style to diners
- Serve tables family-style by placing dishes and refilling as necessary
- Make coffee in large urns and specialty coffee drinks using barista equipment
- Prepare a variety of fruit and vegetable salads
- Serve food in standard portions
- Make cold or hot sandwiches
- Pack box lunches
- Maintain dishwasher and dining room cleanliness
- Unload food from delivery trucks and move heavy garbage cans
- Operate cash register and manage change fund
- Stock merchandise refrigerator and freezers
