The Food Service Worker role at the Southeastern Correctional Facility is a vital position responsible for supervising inmates to ensure that meals and food items are prepared according to established production plans. This position involves training workers in proper methods and assigning tasks to enhance the efficiency of food service operations. The role demands strict adherence to sanitation standards and personal safety protocols, maintaining compliance with all relevant regulations and guidelines. The Food Service Worker also ensures all kitchen tools and equipment are securely stored, and security policies are strictly followed within the correctional environment.

Key responsibilities include enforcing Aramark's food safety and quality standards, supervising inmates during food prep and tray assembly, ensuring efficient and timely meal service, and maintaining accurate daily population counts. The Food Service Worker plays an essential role in the preparation, portion control, and distribution of meals, with a strong emphasis on security, hygiene, and food handling according to HACCP policies.
Candidates must be at least 18 years old, preferably with one year of food preparation or related experience, and previous supervisory experience is desirable. Experience working in correctional settings or interacting with inmates is a significant plus. The role requires the ability to motivate and supervise inmates and team members effectively, a commitment to maintaining safety standards, and the capacity to operate independently with minimal supervision. Additionally, obtaining a food safety certification and qualifying for correctional facility security clearance are mandatory requirements.

Job Requirements
- Must be over 18 years of age
- minimum of one year of food prep or related work preferred
- previous supervisory experience preferred
- previous experience interacting with inmates a plus
- ability to motivate and supervise inmates and or team members to attain quality and quantity of food production in a correctional work environment
- must be able to obtain a food safety certification
- ability to work independently with limited supervision
- ability to exercise good judgment and tact
- must be able to follow basic safety procedures and policies
- must qualify for and maintain correctional facility security clearance

Job Duties
- Adhere to and maintain preparation and production guidelines according to Aramark standards by reviewing and approving production and temperature logs
- supervise inmates in food preparation and tray assembly
- ensure timely, efficient meal service and all Aramark guidelines are being met
- participate in preparation and serving of meals
- print and distribute recipes
- direct inmates in the use of Aramark recipes and train on proper cooking procedures
- ensure proper portions and any special dietary requirements are fulfilled
