As a program office within the Veterans Health Administration (VHA), VCS plays a vital role in supporting the largest healthcare system in the United States by delivering benefits and services to Veterans enrolled in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Healthcare System. Job Requirements
- valid REAL ID to work at Veterans Canteen Service
- ability to read instructions and perform basic math for food preparation
- must be able to stand, walk, and frequently bend
- ability to lift or move objects weighing up to 40 pounds unassisted
- minimum one year experience in food service preferred
- excellent customer service skills
- successful completion of a 1-year probationary period
- participation in seasonal influenza vaccination program required

Job Duties
- prepares a variety of beverages including coffee, latte, cappuccino, and smoothies
- prepares and assembles an assortment of food items such as breakfast sandwiches, lunch sandwiches, wraps, pancakes, and burritos
- maintains cleanliness and sanitation of workplace, equipment, and utensils in compliance with health and safety standards
- properly stores food to maintain freshness and prevent spoilage
- prepares food according to customers' orders or supervisors' instructions following approved procedures
- works in varying temperatures including hot and cold environments
- performs other duties as assigned
