The Food Service Worker operates under direct supervision and plays an essential role in preparing, serving, and storing various food items. Typical responsibilities involve cutting, mixing, and portioning vegetables, salads, sandwiches, sliced meats, baked goods, and desserts. The position requires moderate physical effort, including lifting objects up to 50 pounds regularly. The Food Service Worker collaborates closely with chefs, first cooks, and lead food service workers and may provide support in training student employees. Duties also cover sanitation and cleanliness in the work area, contributing to a safe and healthy dining environment. Additionally, the role includes assisting during catered events and adapting duties during slower periods such as semester breaks or holidays. Job Duties

  • Performs routine tasks of cutting, mixing, preparing, serving and storing food
  • May assist in the preparation of vegetables, desserts, salads, sandwiches and cold plates
  • Assists in the proper set up of work areas in a timely fashion and breaks down areas as directed
  • Performs routine cleaning and sanitation functions as directed
  • May assist in training of student employees assigned to work area
  • Assists in the execution for catered events as directed
  • May take orders, portion and serve food to customers
  • May be assigned other duties during slow periods such as semester breaks, holidays and the summer
  • Performs all other reasonable duties as assigned
