The Food Service Worker (FSW) position at the Minneapolis Veterans Home is a part-time role primarily focused on weekend and day shifts, with work hours rotating between 11:15 am and 7:45 pm. In this role, the Food Service Worker is responsible for performing routine tasks that support the preparation and service of meals as well as maintaining sanitary conditions in the food service area. Duties include preparing small quantities of food for special diets, serving meals on the cafeteria line and at tables, dishwashing, and cleaning food preparation and serving areas. Additional responsibilities involve simple food preparation tasks such as peeling vegetables, making toast and coffee, and using dishwashing machines. - a tuberculosis screening or chest x-ray is required prior to employment

- Knowledge of materials and methods used in preparing food
- knowledge of care and use of cooking utensils and equipment
- knowledge of food values and nutrition
- ability to perform simple cooking on a large scale
- ability to plan and prepare small meals

- must be at least 18 years of age
