Job Duties

  • prepare simple foods according to standardized menus, recipes, or supervisor instructions
  • make salads, dressings, gelatin, toast, or sandwiches
  • grill sandwiches, pancakes, eggs, French toast, and hash browns and toast
  • prepare simple desserts such as pudding, cobbler, and loaf cakes
  • slice and wrap bread and other baked items
  • clean, cut, and chop vegetables and fruits
  • slice meats, cheeses, and breads
  • cut desserts
  • adjust recipe quantities to eliminate excessive waste of food products
  • fill drink machines, mix beverages, make coffee, and prepare sack lunches or snacks
  • use various types of commercial kitchen equipment such as mixers, slicers, and choppers
  • check for proper temperature of prepared foods with thermometer
  • observe food to be sure it is visually appealing and of high quality
  • transport food between kitchen and cafes
  • clean tables, mop floors, stock utensils, cups and beverages
  • serve food from steam tables
  • fill 5-gallon buckets of ice for soda machines
  • lift 30-50 lb. boxes of soda syrup and clean equipment
  • perform some cashiering duties for less than part of scheduled shift
  • provide great customer service
  • perform additional duties assigned by manager or supervisor
