Job Description
This position is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS). Successful candidates will have the opportunity to work in various food service settings such as hospitals, nursing homes, schools, and more.
Job Requirements
- Minimum qualifications include one year of permanent competitive, permanent 55-b/55-c, permanent non-competitive, or permanent labor class service in titles such as Food Service Worker 1, Dietitian Technician, or Cook for promotional candidates. Non-competitive candidates must have two years of qualifying experience in commercial or institutional food preparation. Experience should involve food preparation, food service, and ordering of supplies in settings like hospitals, nursing homes, schools, restaurants, or diners. Formal culinary arts or food service training may be credited for the required experience based on the length and type of program completed. Accredited training programs must be recognized by the American Culinary Federation or the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology.
