Job Description

Baptist Health is the largest not-for-profit healthcare organization in the region, known for its dedication to medical excellence and compassionate patient care. With 12 hospitals, over 29,000 employees, 4,500 physicians, and an extensive network of 200 outpatient centers, urgent care facilities, and physician practices located across Miami-Dade, Monroe, Broward, and Palm Beach counties, Baptist Health serves a diverse community with a comprehensive range of medical services. The organization is home to internationally recognized centers of excellence specializing in cancer treatment, cardiovascular care, orthopedics and sports medicine, and neurosciences, positioning it as a leader in healthcare innovation and patient outcomes.

Rooted in a faith-based mission and supported by philanthropy, Baptist Health focuses not only on delivering superior clinical care but also on fostering strong, meaningful connections with patients and their families. Its long-standing commitment to excellence is reflected in being named one of Fortune's 100 Best Companies to Work For over the past 25 years and earning 45 high-performing honors in the 2024-2025 U.S. News & World Report Best Hospital Rankings, making it the most awarded healthcare system in South Florida. This prestigious recognition underscores the organization's dedication to quality, safety, and patient satisfaction.

The role in question is centered around food service within the hospital system, an essential function that directly contributes to patient care and comfort. The position involves preparing, assembling, and delivering patient meals in compliance with strict quality, service, infection control, and food safety protocols. The individual will also support the operational needs of patient floor kitchens by delivering stock supplies and replenishing used foods and utensils. This role extends to serving guests, fostering positive customer relations, and maintaining sanitation standards to ensure a clean and safe dining environment.

Additional responsibilities encompass working in the dish room and handling financial transactions related to guest tray payments and cafeteria food sales as a cashier. The job requires versatility, including setting up and serving meals for corporate retail, catering services, and designated dining outlets such as the Doctors Dining Room. The incumbent may also be tasked with decorating buffet and reception tables as needed, further supporting the hospitality aspects of the healthcare environment.

This multifaceted role is crucial in maintaining a high-quality food preparation and service standard, enabling the entire food service team to operate efficiently. The position plays a vital part in enhancing the safety, comfort, and overall satisfaction of customers, including patients, visitors, and hospital staff. The estimated pay range for this role is between $16.00 and $16.75 per hour, based on experience, reflecting the importance of the position within the organization's broader mission of compassionate patient-centered care.
